CHARGES FOR ELECTRICITY. MOUNT MAUNGANUI RESORT. [BY TELEGRAPH. OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TAUKANGA, Monday. At. a meeting of the Omokoroa branch of the Farmers' Union the question of raising a riding loan to complete the? metalling of the main road to Tauranga and metalling of certain by-roads was discussed. A resolution requesting the Te Puna member on the Tauranga County Council to obtain particulars of the scheme was adopted. A resolution was carried thanking Mr. C. E. Macmillan, M.P,, for his efforts to secure a reduction in the price of fertilisers.
It was decided to go into the matte:' of cull cow drives when the railway was prepared to carry stock direct to tho wciks.
The incidence of electricity charges was discussed,- the unanimous opinion being in favour of an increased meter chargo instead of the present fixed charges. Prior to the departure of Miss Ellis from Omokoroa School to take up an appointment under the Wellington Education Board, she was presented with gifts from the pupils, the school coinmitee and parents of the scholars. Mount Maunganui residents are taking steps to raise funds for improving the croquet grounds at the popular resort, also to provide seats along the beaches. The improvement of the school grounds is also receiving attention.
