HONOURED BY EX-SOLD!ERS. PRESENTATION OF GOLD BADGE. [BY TELEGnAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.! WELLINGTON. Saturday. The Prime Minister, Mr. Coates, was presented last night with a gold badge of the Returned Soldiers' Association. Sir R. H. Rhodes, the Hon. F. J. Rolleston and a number of returned soldier members of Parliament were among thoso present. In making the presentation Colonel Hall ssiid there were only 12 other holders of the medal, among whom was the Prince of Wales. Mr. Coates expressed great appreciation of the compliment bestowed on him. NO AUCKLAND FAREWELL. BRIEF VISIT TO MATAKOHE. The Prime Minister, Mr. Coates, who will leave Wellington for San Francisco on September 14 on his way to tho Imperial Conference, will not bo accordoci a public farewell in Auckland, owing to lack of time. Mr. Coates intends to pay a visit to Matakohe to say good-byo to his family, but ho has informed tho ■Mayor, Mr. G. Baildon, that the time at his disposal when he passes through Auckland will be so short that ho is niiable to accept the invitation for a civic farewell.
