IMMIGRANTS ARRIVE.
THE CORINTH IC'S PARTY. BOYS FOR FARMING WORK. SALVATION ARMY SCHEME. The 359 assisted immigrants, who arrived by the Gorinthic last evening, and will disembark this morning, formed a very happy party. A sports committee arranged games and entertainment during the voyage and plenty of entertainment was provided for the 69 children. There are 31 boys for Flock House Farm, who have come out under the charge of Captain P. Crawford, formerly of the New Zealand Shipping Company. Captain Crawford said they were a fine lot of lads and should develop into citizens. of whom New Zealand should one day bo proud Also on board are 49 boys,- who have come out under the Salvation Army's farming scheme. They are under the charge of Major-G. Stone, of the Salvation Army, London. Twentytwo will go to Putaruru and the others to various farms in the North Island. A total of 267 boys has now been brought to New Zealand under the Salvation Army scheme. Major Stone said .the lads wero mostly the sons of working people, and were keenly anxious to make good in the Dominion. The Salvation Army was now sending a large number of boys. to .Canada, Australia, and. New Zealand. A further 55 are expected in the Dominion during October. There are* also 26 domestic servants on board. The immigrants destined' for towns south of Auckland will leave by train this evening.
