Miss N. Hanna, who has been visiting friends, in Wellington and Palmerston '.North, has returned to Auckland.
Sir. and Mrs. C. H. Dickinson, of Epsom, who have been in Wellington for tho past four months, have returned to Auckland.
A concert party, arranged by members and friends of the Query Club, gave an enjoyable evening at the Evelyn Firth Home on Thursday.. ' The following took part in the ' programme Misses Tapper, J. Burt, D. Griffiths, M. Home, Dunnett, McCarthy, Ballantyne, Williams, N. Macklow, W. Cooke, N. Webb and V. Clark.
Tho girls' sub-committee,of the Everready Committee is holding a variety evening.in St. Mary's Hall on Tuesday, August 31, in aid of their sweets stall on Daffodil Day. A programme of musical items,' : dancing competitions and a silver trail has been arranged; With tho funds raised the league intends helping the Flunket Society, the Free Kindergarten, the girls' branch of the Young Citizens League and:- the Boy Scouts Association.
Mrs. .Mairet has been giving an exhibition of hand-sewn stuffs at fche. Three Shields Gallery, London, which shows how great is the revival of feminine interest in weaving. Mrs. Mairet. who has been weaving for 15 years, is largely responsible for- the re-creation of interest. Much, of the work is done in the open air, arid most band-woven stuffs are also hand-dyed, increasing the advantages of them. Many' beautiful colours are obtained which are impossible with ordinary chemical dyes.
