PAN 1C •S+RIC KE N WO^EN. INVASION OF THREE SHOPS. ; •-•'iJ'CS Exciting scenes wore witnessed in Liverpool lately, when a herd of eighteen steers broke loose. The anltnals were being taken to the abattoir. Hundreds of people who'were in the vicinity-fled as the steers rusheci along the streets. Many women fainted, F,nd sonic were knocked down. Seven of the steers jaado, A,wjld dash for a. large store, causing the assistants and customers to ruslr)'fjir other exits.' ; ■ ___ ■■■.. Six,of the steers entered and created the wildest disordes:. Counters were 'overturned, the slock scattered over the floor, and showcases .find glass doors smashed. Police and civilians followed the animals into the store, bat it was a long time before they could get the bullocks out, succeeding 1 , «lj| Js&jv!>}* tying ropes round their heads 'and pulling the animals through the doors. A civilian, who clung to the head of a bullock as it bolted out of the building, was-injured and taken to the hospital. Panic-stricken women dropped their children down Cellar gratings of houses as the beasts-dashed along the stieeis. One of the,">nimais, a , fine Canadian bull, careered madly up one street -with a man seated on its back, and holding ,pn . .to the horns. He disappeared iti th'e- ' cjis'ance, but subsequently jumped o/f'"tlso bullock's back when he saw ho sign <>f its speed abating. Anothei animal dashed into «>., grower's shop, overturned the with bacon, butter, and eggs, jind drove the shop assistants uut by a back exit. A woman shopper was knocked 'c!o\vn*hnd slightly injured.
