CATERPILLAR PLAGUE.
INVASION OF HYDE PARK. Hyde Park, London, was lately visited by a plague of Caterpillars.. Every year during hot weather swarms of caterpillars which%atch out from the millions of eggs on the trees and railings, under the chair ! seats - and all sorts of other convenient places, invade jthe park. Tins year's horde appeared to be. extra fat and furry, and a man strolling through the park one evening found thousands of them dropping from the trees on to the chairs placed beneath them or swarming up and dow»n the railings and crawling-all over the foot-paths^-.'During the greater part of the day the park-keepers were busy knocking the'caterpillars off the chairs and railings and sweeping them up, but they found [ it difficult to keep pace with -the enemy.
