In the drive, south, from the: rise on fro 3 reef, an extension of 6ft. has been made, the lode showing an average width of 36 inches, but,, being split, "'the progress of the work is slow. : •••-«• Kuranui.—Tho lower level crosscut on the drive east' on the Rosfl reef has been driven 21ft.: a total of fi2ft. The reef averages eight inches wide of brown ..quartz, but is very patchy. At times the,, quartz looks very wpll, carrying nice mineral. There i» still a little water in th« reef. The country in the face is of a • brown nature and of a good class for carrying, goldbearing reefs. Two men are to be pht on sinking on the Ross reef from old-level ftb Ncw Zeehan.— During the week work h*s been confined to stripping, taking out the loading stope, and timbering in the tio.tr reef and splitting and hauling timber front the bush. So: far M we have gone th«> reef is looking very well and a few dabs find colours of gold have been seen in the quartz broken out.
