NEW LYNN TOWN BOARD.

.VALUATION OBJECTIONS. The New Lynn Town Board met on Monday, the chairman, Mr. C. F. Gardner, presiding. . . . . In connection with the recent sitting of the Assessment Court the chairman stated that a good deal of dissatisfaction had been expressed by ratepayers at having lost considerable time owing to having to attend Court to give evidence in trivial matters brought by individual ratepayers other than owners. The'president of the Cburt seemed to have gfave doubts whether he had power to' award costs against such individuals where their objections were not sustained,. The board decided to draft a letter to the Minister of Justice suggesting that power should be given to impose costs against individuals who lodged objections \vhich were proved to be frivolous. The Plunket Society was given permission to hold' a street stall in New Lynn early in September. > Craigbank Avenue footpath was the subject of a complaint by Mr. M. Kirk?atrick. The matter was referred to the forks Committee for a report. The Waitemata County Council wrote j asking the ! board to contribute .£2 a year ' to cbver the cost of minor "repairs to the ' boundary road, the County Council to do. the work. This course was agreed to. The Auckland Suburban Local Bodies' Association wrote asking the board to furnish it with a list of commercial motor garages and the names of owners of commercial vehicles. It was pointed out there were a large number of unregistered vehicles and the boai'd was suffering a - loss of revenue thereby. It was decided to' ask for further particulars. The foreman was instructed to furnish a report of the cost of repairing the portion of Manuka Street footpath in the Town Board area. - The building inspector reported that during the past fortnight seven permits had been granted. The sanitafy inspector submitted a proposal for temporary removal of nightsoil in the congested part of the township. ■ Mr. R. Wright and -Mrs. Gilliam were thanked for donating a number of trees and plants for beautifying the Triangle Reserve.
