WORK DURING EPIDEMIC. HOSPITAL BOARD'S TRIBUTE. A' tribute to - the memory of the late Dr., J. P. Frengley was paid at the meeting of the Auckland • Hospital Board last evening. • .« . ' /• ' * -• ■ The, chairman,. Mr. W. Wallace,* said that Dr. Frengley would be sorely missed not only ,by the Department of Health, but also by/the community generally. He thought Dr. Frengley would be best known to the- peojle of Auckland for his workSduring the epidemic, of 1918. When he, was-sent; to Au9kland no one dreamt the epidemic would reach the proportions 'it did. Kir. Wallace; recalled that on a Supday afternoon he made a tour of Auckland with- Dry FfWgley'.to see the institutions, which 1 might be required -in the .course; of . the epidemic.'/ Dp- Frengley :then : showed »a keen.iperCeption 1 of what would be required. " , . . Mr. Wallace said he was in'constant touch with Dr. Frengley during the epidemic", and' it had been a pleasure to work..with him. There were no halfhearted measures with him. When there was need of action he did not wait for instructions but acted and consulted Wellington, aiterwards. Mr. Wallace also recalled the unique tribute paid to Dr. Frengley- when the citizens of Auckland presented him with an illuminated address in acknowledgment of his great services to the community at that time. Mr. Wallace also referred to Dr. Frengley's wide knowledge of hospital requirements and the valuable assistance he*had given to hospital boards. On the. motion of the chairman, the board passed a vote of condolence with the. relatives.', - ■,; .', - J:. ■
