THAMES GUN CLUB.
NEW ! GROUND ACQUIRED. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN"CORRESPONDENT.] THAMES, Friday. The annual meeting of the Thames Rod and Gun Club * was held last. evening, the president, Dr. J. B. Liggi'ns, presiding over a good attendance. It was decided to support the protest by the New Zealand Gun Clubs' Association against the provisions of the proposed Captive Birds Prohibition Bill. The president stated that arrangements had been finalised for the acquisition of a new shooting ground to bo used during the coming season. It was at first thought - possible to secure an area 'at Tararu. but white negotiations were in progress Mr. H. H. Adams had offered an area adjacent to that Used by the club last season and this had been accepted. The new ground possessed many advantages. It was conveniently situated and was very suitable for the club's purpose. Members endorsed the action of the president and secretary, Mr. Shaw, in acquiring the new area. It was decided to organise a "wprking bee", to clear-the new ground- o« August 28. ■
