LURE OF DIAMONDS.
RUSH IN THE TRANSVAAL. THOUSANDS PARTICIPATE. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 7.5 p.m.) . CAPETOWN. Akg. 19. .The record diamond rush toElandsputte, in the Transvaal, last June was eclipsed to-day, when 15,000 participated in the proclamation of treasure-trove on a farm, adjoining Elandsputte. Runners, including 120 women, clad in running kit, covered ■ 1§ miles in an unusual form of a semi-circle. It is estimated the population of the'new diggings, including natives, is' in the neighbourhood of 50,000.
