THORNS HAVE ROSES.
Turn your troubles inside out, Pleasure under pain reposes; Roses have their 2 thorns, no doubt, But the thorns have roses. Rough and smooth together mix, Rest is sweet when labour closes; Roses' grow on thorny sticks, But the thorns have roses. Strength and beauty stand allied, Spears defend our, sweetest poisies; Briars have their gentle side, For the thorns have roses. Stab and sting defend the soul, Each its firm restraint imposes; Life should stand, a fragrant bowl. Thorns with crowns of roses. —A.W,
