MINING NEWS.
MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS. Golden Age.—The manager telegraphed yesterday morning that there were strong colours of gold in, the footwall of the Golden Age reef. The reef contained » large body of quartz. Majestic.—The. south drive toward the random of the chute of ore in the United section tias reaohed a point 1914 ft. from the main crosscut. The reef, some distance back, took an . easterly turn and consequently the drive had to be taken along the hangingwall of-the reef in the country, rock to obviate a bend. The last round of holes disclosed quartz on the hanging wall and the course of the drive should be in ore within a few shifts. The country being penetrated is the-best yet exposed at, this level and the quartz ■so far revealed is of the right character .to make into sulphide ore at any time. The face is now reaching a . point corresponding with the highest elevation nt the mine. . Ohinemuri.—The south drive is in 92ft. from No-. 6 crosscut and the vein being carried along has increased in size, being wider than the. drive. A very satisfactory feature is that the high grade ore is making from the footwall side. The developments at this point go to show that there exists already a block 92ft. in length of high grade ore, .with evidence of a stronger body making as the drive proceeds southward in virgin country. Negotiations are now in progress for the early installation of electrical power to allow of the operation of five rock-drills at various points in No. 3 level.
