STIR IN CRICKET WORLD.
AUSTRALIAN SENSATION. Because he considered that Mr. Sydney Smith, jun., manager of the Australian team in England, had been unfairly treated by tne Gordon Club, Mr. J. D. Durham, president of the New South Wales, Junior Cricket Union, declined at the annual meeting to seek election as a delegate to the New South Wales Cricket Association. Instead, he nominated Mr. Smith, who was elected with only one dissentient. Another sensation has been caused by H. L. Collins, captain of the Australian eleven, losing his position as captain and selector to the Waverley Club. When officials of the club were asked if this were further evidence of antagonism to Collins—being reminded that the club had not given him a send-off before the left for England—they emphatically replied "No." Officials of the club said that the name of Collins was riot mentioned in the discussion at the annual meeting, but one remarked that it could not be denied that Collins had not taken the interest in the club and in the younger players that it was hoped he would have done.
