LEAGUE FOOTBALL.
COMPLAINT BY REFEREES. WITHDRAWAL OF DELEGATE. UNFAIR TREATMENT ALLEGED. A mild sensation was caused at the meeting of tlie Management Committee of the Auckland Rugby League last evening,' when a letter was received from the Referees' Association, notifying the withdrawal of its delegate, Mr. W. Mincham, from the Management Committee. The letter alleged that in several matters recently the association had not received the consideration due to it by the delegates. Mr. W. J. Davidson said the matter was too serious to treat lightly. In the best interests of the game a deputation from, the Auckland League should at once wait on the referees and have any grievances ventilated by conference. The chairman, Mr. W. J. Hammill, said he regretted the attitude of the referees. While he was of opinion that the referees were particularly well-treated in the League code, he agreed with the previous speaker's suggestion. Mr. C. Adamson said the junior games would be seriously affected if any drastic action were taken by the referees. After other speakers had expressed Einions on various suggestions, Messrs. immill, C'ulpan, Davidson and Fielding were appointed to wait on the Referees' Association next Monday. MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE, VISIT OF OTAGO TEAM. The Management Committee of> the Auckland Rugby League met last evening, Mr. W. J. Hammill presiding. The Otago League notified that its representative team _to play Auckland on Saturday would arrive oy the ordinary express from Wellington _ this morning. The Lower Waikato League wrote for particulars of an Auckland junior team making a trip to Ngaruawahia on August 21. The matter was referred to the Junior Management Committee, which will arrange to send a representative team on a date to bo arranged. Transfers were granted in the following instancesA. Watson, from Newton to New South Wales League; R. A. Pace. Newton, to Pacific Club. Dunedin. The Waimari Club, Christchurch, wrote thanking the Auckland League for its offer to billet its junior grade players visiting Auckland. The club, however, preferred to keep the players together, and other arrangements were being made. It was decided to suggest August 28 as the date for the match. On this date Canterbury will also play Auckland. Arrangements for the challenge cup match on Saturday were discussed and the chairman reported that an official welcome would be extended to the Otago team this evening. AUCKLAND V. OTAGO. Owing to injuries J. O'Brien (Marist) and J. Clarke (Newton) have notified the selectors that they will not bb available for Saturday's match between Auckland and Otago. C. Hargreavea (Newton) and J. Stormont (Marist) havo therefore been added to the Auckland team. The final selection of the local thirteen will be made this evening, and all players must attend training at Carlaw Park.
