A charge of having in his possession, without lawful authority. , feathers of a native pigeon, to which the Animals' Protection Act applies, was admitted by R. Campbell in the Police Court yesterday. Defendant's companion had a pheasant, in his bag and defendant's bag contained a number of pigeon's fathers. It was presumed he had shot a number .of pigeons and the feathers had accumulated in his bag. .VDefendant denied he had shot pigeons, and said his dog brought a pigeon to him which had apparently been shot by someone else.; - ■ ? ; The magistrate,-Mr. Poynton, imposed a fine of £1 with costs.
