FORMATION IN V AUCKLAND. ,> ■ ' A representative gathering was held in the'Unity'"'Hall;lecture ;room' on Ihurs-. day evening'in response to the invitations of Mr. Kkrl Atkinson, convener, who said he felt the tfced-of v bringirig gramophone-" owners together.-' Mr. C. .B. 'Plumnjcr was elected chairman. > , • • *»-*• •* The meeting decided to form a society, to be known as the" Auckland Gramophone Society, the yearly subscription being fixed at 10s a "member, and 15s for - married couples The executive' of the. society was restricted to those not actively engaged in the business, and the secretary-Jwas instructed to obtain copies of rules from some of the larger English' societies- '• . The following officers were elected:— President, Mr. C. B. Plummer; hon. secretary and ■ treasurer, Mr. Heather; executive* Messrs. - R, Hipkins, Jos. Norrie, C. Porter, -' A. D. Cunningham, Karl Atkinson, and A. H:\Keesing. The opening gramophone recital will be held in the Unity Hall on Monday, August 16, the programme being left in- the hands of the president
