POINCARE'S FINANCE.
DRASTIC MEASURES READY. TAXATION AND ECONOMIES. (Received 9.35 p.m.) Reuter. PARIS, July 2l>. Confirmation is semiofficially given to the statement that the financial measures which will be introduced in the Chamber of Deputies to-morrow by M. Poincare, Premier and Finance Minister, will be confined to a revision of, or an increase, in taxes, and a drastic reduction in expenditure. It is estimated that the Treasury will need two and a-half milliards of francs more before December 31. This will be obtained from indirect taxes, including a revision of the business turnovers' tax, import duties on coffee, tea, rice and other goods, and an increase in customs and transport tariffs. The proceeds of the readjustment of the uirect taxes, which will not be available before 1927, will be allocated to the sinking fund of the floating debt.
Tvt. Poincare means to rush his measures through Parliament.
