The Waikato River has gone dry at Arapuni, but that need not alarm you. The pubs of Auckland are still open, and the N.Z. Observer is still keeping things merry and bright. This week's issue will interest and amuse you. The articles in- 1 elude"Starvation or Immigration," "Renewal of Mortgages," "Indian Army Hockey Team" and "Railway Hoardings." The original work by Bio includes the cartoons :—"The Immigration Queue. Labour's Warning Cry: 'We're Full up of You," "Railway . Posters Everywhere" and, "Adulterators Unlimited," having reference to the recent inspection of liquor in hotels. There is a full page of photographs of prominent personages at the opening of the new Wallace Wards at the Auckland Hospital last Sunday, and also views of the wards. Personal and topical illush-ations and letterpress make up an unusually interesting number. The Observer is on sale at all booksellers, and the price is only threepence, or 3s 6d per quarter posted. —Advt. ' An interesting event took place last night when two gentlemen, welj-known in public circles for their diametrically opposed views and somewhat descriptive manner of referring to each other, were seen to be in amiable converse. Upon being approached as to the subject of their friendly discourse it transpired that each was agreed that Perfection Whisky was by far the best. Wholesalers: Cooke and Co., Ltd., Auckland.—Advt. Men's and boys' clothing at greatly reduced prices at Smith and Gaughey's Clearance Fair.
