WEEK OPENS BRIGHTLY.

Tho week opened brightly on the Auckland sharemarket yesterday, the mining section continuing to attract most attention. There was inquiry for Government securities at late rates, the only decline being in Soldiers' Inscribed, 1903, offers for which dropped from £y9 10s to £99 os. bale was made m Inscribed Stock, 1938, at £96 15s, more being wanted at £96 10s, an early selling quotation of £97 being withdrawn. In commercial debentures New Zealand Breweries were done at 25s 9d as on Saturday, more being available at the same figure, buyers 25s od. In banks .Nationals of .New Zealand were firmer at £6 17s, offers being unchanged at £6 15s 6d. i\ew Zealands sold at 625, with more available at that price, a drop of 3d, buyers 61s 9d. In insurance demand for New Zealands eased to 41s, sellers unchanged at 435. South British offers were also slightly less at 58s 6d, and although sellers revealed an accommodating tendency no transactions were recorded. Quotations of Nationals and Standards failed to attract offers. In loan and agency New Zealand Guarantee Corporation had sale at 10s. In gas there was no change on Saturday's rates. In timber Leyland-O'Brien sold at 435. In niiscellaneous Electrolytic Zinc, preference, were done at 365. Inquiry for Sanford, Ltd., at 23s revealed holders at 245. Wilsons Cement were firm at 365, buyers advancing from 35s to 35s 3d. In mining Alburnias changed hands at 5s and 4s lid. The market opened at 5s and'4s lOd and closed at 5s Id and 4s lid. Moanataiaris, contributing, were done at 2s 4d. Kawaraus sold at 6s lOd and 6s lid. There were transactions in New Waiotahi, contributing, at Is 4d. Ohinemuris sold at 6s 6d, at which price more were wanted, sellers firming from 6s 9d to 7s 6d. Waihi Grand Junctions were done at Is 9d.
