PAPAKURA AFFAIRS.
DRAINAGE AND ROAD WORK.
[by telegraph.—own correspondent.] PAPAKURA. Monday. The I'apakura Town Board met. this evening, the Rev. W. C. Wood presiding. It was decided that the estimated cost of £350 for draining storm-water in Victoria Street West was out of all proportion to the board's finances. The foreman was instructed to prepare an alternative scheme. ■ The clerk of the Franklin County Council informed the board that application had been made for a Government subsidy of £125, £1 for £l, for metalling Red Hill Road. The estimated cost would be £250. The board was asked to assist in getting this work done by contributing half the amount required. It was resolved, in the event of the Government subsidy being made available, to assist in the terms of the letter.
