BOXING CHAMPIONSHIP. THE BRIJISH WELTER-WEIGHT. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 5.5 D.m.) LONDON. July 22. In the welter-weight boxing championship of Britain, carrying the Lonsdale Belt, Hood outpointed Mason. Aided by an advantage in height and reach Hood was generally better at long reach work. Mason was quick and elusive and frequently held in clinches, but he was well behind in points to the tenth round. He made up some ground in the next four rounds, but after that Hood forged ahead and evaded Mason's determined attempts at a knock out, winning a popular victory.

Chandler, of California, in the first match of the semi-finals for the Longwood Bosvl, 6—3, 7-5, 6-2. In the quarter finals of the doubles Tilden and A. L. Weiner, of Philadelphia, defeated Harada and Towara, 6—4, 4—6, 6 —o.
