AUCKLAND UNEMPLOYED.

IMPROVEMENT RECORDED. FORTY MEN PLACED IN WORK. A decrease in the number of names on the Auckland unemployed list was recorded yesterday, the figures dropping from 662 to 623. There was also an improvement in the women's bureau. The department placed 43 men in work. At the beginning of the week the number registered was 656, so that the reduction for the week is 33. The women's bureau has received applications from 120 women and has placed 44, but 13 of these are doubtful as word has been received from them. The bureau has still 86 women awaiting employment, 23 being shop, office or factoiy girls and the balance are seeking domestic work. Requests for girls have been received from 68 employers.
