LONG HAIR AGAIN.
For some months past there have been mysterious rumours that the days of " bobbing " and " shingling were drawins to a close. Indignant partisans loudly and desperately declared that never, never would thev desert such a practical and convenient" fashion, in a gallaut attempt to stave off the inevitable disaster, but the ominous announcement that " Shiriglers in Suburbia were working overtime " foretold the beginning of the end. Now the blow has really fallen. Paris and London have combined to issue, a definite ultimatum. Shingling must, go to make room, for Empire curls and puffs. What a day of triumph for the long* haired woman, who for seven long years has endured the thinly-veiled scorn of her friends and resisted La . Mode's decree that long hair was incompatible with smartness, while waiting patiently for the demise of a fashion that, it seemed, never would go out! Yet what, after all, were bobbing and shingling but a gigantic conspiracy on the part of women with poor heads cf hair, foisted on a docile community as things of beauty? • Women who had hitherto deplored their scanty locks suddenly found their worst point converted into their best, while hundreds of foolish girls rushed to sacrifice what they used to consider their "crowning glory," in order to be in the swim. , • Now the few of us who stood firm are coming into our own once more! No longer shall we "need to conceal long and beautiful hair as if it were a crime, and dress it as flat and smooth as possible, so as to fit the hats of the period, and avert from ourselves the dreaded verdict of " Dowdy! "
