HOCKEY.
GAME AT WHANGAREI. [by telegraph.—own correspondent.] WHANGAREI. Friday. The games played in the Wha.ngarei hockey competitions yesterday were very interesting. In the men's section Huia defeated Trades by 4 goals to 1. The two leading teams in the ladies' section, Avoca and High School A, fought out a great battle. High School won by 2 goals to 0. In the game between Old Girls and Manaia the former team won by 5 goals to 0. CHATHAM COT CONTEST. MATCH AT WHANGAREI. The Huntly Thistle Association football team to play Hikurangi in the district semi-final of the Chatham Cup competition at Whangarei to-day, left by the Ngapuhi last evening. By the courtesy of Mr. R. Fuller the members of the team, who were met by Messrs. J. M. Downie and L. C. H. Dawson, of the Auckland Football Association Management Committee, attended the Opera House before their departure. They will return to-morrow morning and will be the guests of the Association during the day.
