At a meeting of 60 native land-owners held at Te Hauke, the following resolutions were passed : —That the landowners of Poukawa are willing have the land around Poukawa block No. 13 drained and made fit for occupation; that the Native Trustee be respectfully requested to visit Te Hauke as soon as convenient, to discuss with the Poukawa committee, elected by the land-owners, the most satisfactory methods to adopt for the fullest development of the Poukawa area. The foregoing resolutions were placed before Mr. H. King, representing the Native Trustee, who expressed satisfaction at the forward step taken by the native owners. He said he felt certain that the Native Trustee, who acted as father to the natives, would be able to assist them very materially bv his guidance and practical help in making Poukawa what Te Hapuku wished it to be, a "source of nourishment for you and your children."
