MAORI RUGBY TEAM.
DOUBT REGARDING TOUR. PASSAGE MONEY DIFFICULTY. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, Monday. The question whether the Maori Rugby team's tour of France will eventuate or whether the fall of the franc will occasion a last minute cancellation still remains undecided. A special meeting of the New Zealand Rugby Union, at which were present members of the Maori Advisory Board, was held to go into the matter this evening. It was found inadvisable to make any definite decision. Advice was received from the High Commissioner's Office. London, that Mr. C. J. Wray, the New Zealand representative. of the Rugby Council in England, had received two further cablegrams from the French Rugby Union advising that everything was in order for the tour, and that the necessary action in regard to payment of the passage money had been taken with the shipping agent in Paris. However, as the New Zealand Council had received no definite advice in regard to the matter, it was decided that a cablegram should be despatched to Mr. Wray asking for confirmation of payment of the passage money, so that tickets could be procured. , The meeting accordingly adjourned until to-morrow, pending a cabled reply from Mr. Wray. THE IMPERIAL CONFERENCE. DELEGATE FROM DOMINION. [BY telegraph.- press association.] WELLINGTON. Monday. In the event of the tour of the New Zealand Maori Rugby team not taking place Mr. H. Harris, joint manager of the team, will be sent to England, to attend the Imperial Rugby conference as delegate from the- New Zealand Union.
