RIOT IN JAPAN.
POLICE STATION ABOLISHED. PEOPLE SHOW RESENTMENT. (Received 11.15 p.m.) Reuter. TOKIO, July 18. A riot occurred at Nagano as a result of the Governor's ■ proposal to economise by abolishing the police station. The citizens feared this would lead to an increase of crime and a crowd of 50GO stormed the residence of the Governor. He and the chief of police were injured? The riot spread and the police were powerless to control it but later the mobs dispersed before the arrival of troops. One hundred persons, including 20 polico were injured. .
