AUCKLAND METHODISTS.
THE CENTRAL 6IRGUIT. VISIT OF GIPSY SMITH. The quarterly meeting of the Auckland Central Methodist Circuit was held on Monday evening. The Rev. Leonard B. Dalby presided over a larg« attendance of ministers and officials. The Bev. T. W. Vealie was officially welcomed to the circuit. A sincere vote of sympathy was passed -with Mrs. Reader and family. The meeting expressed its high appreciation of the late Rev. Amos Reader, of his ability as a preacher and as a Christian gentleman, and the circuit stewards were instructed to write to Mrs. Reader on b#» half of the meeting. A minute was placed on the Looks referring to the willing and niseful lives of the Revs, Dr. Morley and H. R. Dewsbury. Dr. Morley was one of the ministers' in Auckland in the early days, and was also superintendent of the circuit from 1879 to 1881. Siace then his long life of usefulness to the connection in New Zealand and Australia will he remembered; Mr. Dewabury was a most eloquent preacher who for 40 years served not only the Pitt "Street and the Grafton Road circuits in Auckland, but other very prominent circuits throughout the Dominion. The balance-sheet showed the finances to be satisfactory. A credit balance on the quarter's working was shown, after the meeting had increased the stipend of the Rev. T. W. Vealie retrospective to his commencement of service at the heginning of the connexional year. Reference was mad« to the coming of the famous? Wesleyaa-Methodist evangelist, Gipsy Rodney Smith, whose visit it was hoped would mark a great spiritual advance made by all the churches in Auckland and throughout the Dominion.
