YOUNG GIRL TAKEN AWAY. pßt TELEQEAPB:.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] GISBORNE,' Saturday. A farm hand, Alfred Henry Jones, of Ormond, was charged in the Police Court this morning with abduction and indecent assault of a girl aged 13£ years, whom, it was alleged, he had taken to Botorua, where he was arrested. On the suggestion of the magistrate, the assault charge was withdrawn, there being no evidence in support of it. On the charge of abduction, accused's statement was to the effect that he took the girl away because she was having a hard life at home. Be intended taking her to his father's place at Dargaville. Medical evidence showed that there had been no interference with the girl. Accused pleaded guilty to the charge of abduction, and was committed to Auckland for sentence.
