NEW ZEALANDERS AT HOME

[from our own correspondent.] LONDON, May i. Commander F. N. Miles, R.N., and Mrs. Miles have arrived in London. After a short period of foreign service, Commander Miles expects to receive a fresh appointment in the Royal Navy. Mr. Nigel Wallnufct (Auckland), came to England via India, Egypt and France. Until September he will tour in the United Kingdom, and then leave for a Continental trip. Returning, he will go to America, there to spend some months. Mr. and Mrs. J, A. C. Allum (Auckland) were passengers by the Aquitania from New York, and they expect to be in Britain until the latter part of August. They will visit various parts of the British Isles and the Continent until they leave again for New Zealand. The Rev. J. W. Kemp (Auckland), who is accompanied by Mrs. and Miss Kemp, has arrived in England. He has many engagements to fill in this country, and on his way back to New Zealand he will keep a number of engagements in the United States. Lieutenant-Colonel T. A. Hunter, director of dental hygiene, who is on a health trip, came by way of America. He visited Boston, New Orleans, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Santo Barbara. At the two last-mentioned places he spoke before dental societies and explained the denial work done by the. Government of New Zealand. It was suggested by the American dentists that New Zealand was leading the world in dental hygiene. Mr. F. M. Nairn and his daughter (Auckland) have come to Britain mainly to visit relatives in Scotland. They will leave of the North at an early date to make their headquarters in Dundee. They think of returning to NeW Zealand about the end of September by way of Canada. Mr. and Mrs. H. N. Hunt (Auckland) have left for a trip to the Continent. They will be in England until the latter part of the year. Mr. A. E. Mulgan (Auckland) is staying at Chelsea with his brother, Mr, G. W. Mulgan. He is accompanied by Mrs. and Miss Mulgan. Paymaster-Lieutenant E. N. R. Fletcher, R.N., who is at present in the office of the First Sea Lord, has been appointed to the position of Naval Secretary to the New Zealand division of the Royal Navy, and secretary to the commodore, relieving Paymaster-Commander Reginald Butcher. The new appointment dates from May 14. Paymaster-Lieutenant Fletcher will leave for New Zealand by the Taiiiui on May 28.

Mr. J. Maughan Barnett (Auckland) has been elected a Fellow of the Royal Colonial Institute.
