APOSTLE OF PEACE.

SCOTTISH VIEW OF BALDWIN. EXCHANGE OF COMPLIMENTS. Reuter. LONDON. June 7. "An Apostle of Peace" and " The Man of the Hour" were descriptions applied to the Prime Minister, Mr. Stanley Baldwin, by the Moderator of the Assembly of the Church of Scotland and the Lord Provost respectively on the occasion of a visit by Mr. Baldwin to Edinburgh to receive the freedom of the city. In acknowledging the freedom of the city the Prime Minister paid a tribute to the contribution of Scots to British character, which, he said, was wholesome, purifying, strengthening and safe. Mr, Baldwin said he regretted that the diminution of the spirit of adventure since the war was slackening the flow of emigration to the Dominions, but he believed the tide had turned.
