CRUSHED BENEATH WHARE.
FARMER SEVERELY INJURED.
BLOOD TRANSFUSION NEEDED.
[BY telegraph.—press association.] ASHBURTON, Tuesday.
Peter Barrie, a iarmer, of Tinwald, was seriously injured to-day. . He had jacked a up for repairs and was underneath it on his back when the jack slipped. Mrs. Barrie attempted to loose him by digging him out with a spade. Assistance came, and Mr. Barrie was admitted to the hospital in a semi-conscious condition.
Blood transfusion was necessary, a neighbour's employee giving his blood. Although still critical, Mr. Barrie's condition has slightly improved.
