WEALTH OF PROVINCE.

THE WINTER EXHIBITION. SPLENDID SHOW PROMISED. OPENING THIS AFTERNOON. The Auckland Winter Exhibition will be opened at the Prince's Wharf to-day and will continue until June 19. There will be no formal ceremony, but the doors wili be open to admit the public, from 2.30 p.m. Until that time the Prince's Wharf will be a hive of industry, with a small army of workmen completing the various exhibits and stalls, which this year are more numerous than those of any previous Winter Exhibition. It .was a happy inspiration that suggested a co-operation of leaders in the primary and secondary industries to promote an exhibition that would represent thoroughly the wealth-producing resources of the province. In this respect the district courts are specially valuable, and in providing financial assistance for the preparation of the courts the Exhibition Committee has done much to assure a widespread interest in the fixture. This year, Thames, To Aroha, Pukekohe and Te Kuiti have provided courts and the combination of primary and secondary industries represented should convey a knowledge of the potentialities of the province that could not be obtained 7 in any other manner.

Root crops and field produce generally nre never very strongly represented at the exhibition in the competitive classes, but this is more or less compensated for by the displays in the district courts and commercial exhibits. There are, however, some excellent entries of farm products.

The display of secondary industries will again be a prominent feature and visitors should be well repaid for an inspection of the many, attractively displayed exhibits. There will be ample amusement and entertainment for young and old. In the afternoons and early evenings pictures will be screened! The programme will also include concerts and exhibitions of dancing. Orchestral and band music will also be provided each afternoon and evening- -
