big demand for bicycles. OIL STOVES AND CAMP BEDS. There was a great rash to buy wireless sets and bicycles at many of the shops and stores in London on May 3, on the eve of the general strike. One manager stated that his firm sold fifty "bicycles before half-past nine in the morning. There was also a demand for oil stoves and camp beds. "We have been overwhelmed with orders for new bicycles," said the manager of a retail branch of a prominent firm of manufacturers.
An official at another house said .that an unusually large number of wireless sets had been sold.
