THE EVENING SCARF.

The fashionable evening scarf is a mere square of chiffon, but in the hands of a clever mannequin it becomes a rival to the fan itself. Gracefully the scarf is carried in the hand or wound about the wrist, and with another charming movement it is thrown round the- throat, and, if it is to remain there, knotted at the back of the neck. A square of black chiffon bordered with black lace was the scarf which accompanied a frock of black lace and sequins, the lace and the sequins alternating in the pleats of the skirt. In a subtle way the scarf was not only a part of the whole scheme, but actually the completion of it. The idea of the frock seemed to be best conveyed as the Nearer of it raised, her hands to throw her scarf aJaoutiiar neck.
