PREMATURE EXPLOSION.
INJURIES TO TWO MEN. ENGAGED IN BLASTING LOGS. [tr TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WHANGAREI, "Wednesday. At Houto, between Whangarei and Dargaville, while engaged in 'blasting logs for splitting into posts, George Williams was severely injured by a charge exploding prematurely. As a result of the accident Williams' clothes caught fire and he was severely burned all over his body. His companion, a man named Bidwell, was also slightly burned.
A third man who was milking in a shed near-by went to the scene of the accident and picked up the injured' men who, though conscious, were suffering severely from shock. He brought them by motorcar to Whangarei where they were admitted to the hospital. Bidwell was able to leave again after receiving attention. Williams' condition is reported as not serious.
