COROMANDEL COUNTY.

REPAIRING FLOOD DAMAGE. . [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] COROMANDEL, Wednesday. At a meeting of the newly-elected County Council Mr. S. James, the retiring chairman, was unanimously re-elected. Tho district engineer notified the council that the amount allocated to the county for road subsidies and grants over the current financial year is £9OOO. The clerk furnished a list of unexpended grants and subsidies as at April 1, totalling £3327, and the council resolved to ask for the revoting of this amount. Application is' to be made to the Lands Department for a grant of £350 for roads and bridge work in the Whenuakite riding, and also £IOO for the formation of an access road to sections in the Port Jackson Settlement. The Mines Department is to be asked for grants totalling £BSO for road work in the Coromandel" Kuaotunu and Colville ridings. Messrs. A, J. Denize and W.
