ONEHUNGA ROAD WORKS. A Compensation Court sat at Onehunga yesterday morning, presided over by Mr. YV. 11. McKean, S.M., to consider the claim of Edward, Francis and Leonard Drunim (Mr. Duggan) for £2OO damages for depreciation of their property through the roading works of the Onehunga Borough Council (Mr. Prendergast). Mr. Hamill acted as assessor for the claimants, and Mr. Robb for the council. The three claimants gave evidence, supported by their father, that they bought a property in September, 1922, consisting of a residence at the corner of Queen Street and Clark Road, and a small section behind it, facing the.latter-thorough-fare, and through the levels being altered to make the footpath 2ft. to 4ft. above this section thev estimated depreciation to the. extent of £2OO had been caused. All the witnesses wore cross-examined as to tho extent to which any alleged depreciation. was more than was met bv the property being now surrounded by two perfect, modern roadways, bordered by good footpaths, in placo of tho old primitive facilities. The magistrate . announced that tho Court awarded £6O.
