AMUSEMENTS PARK.

AN EXHIBITION ATTRACTION. ESTABLISHMENT IN AUCKLAND. CONTROL BY LOCAL COMPANY. A new attraction is to be provided for Aucklanders in the near future. The Amusements Park that figured so prominently at the Dunedin Exhibition has been acquired by a syndicate and after running in Dunedin for another three weeks it will be removed to a suitable site in Auckland. Two representatives of the syndicate, Messrs. H. Halliday and J. R. Pairbairn, were in Auckland during the week to arrange for the formation of a local company to finance and control the park. They left for Dunedin last evening but will return shortly to complete the arrangements. Mr. Halliday stated yesterday it was intended to establish the park in Auckland on a much more comprehensive scale than it had appeared in Dunedin. The most popular attractions would be retainocl and enlarged in addition to which some entirely new features would be introduced. The gambling element would have no place in the park, which would provide nothing but wholesome amusement and entertainment. Prominent Auckland business men were interesting themselves in the venture, and very shortly full information with regard to the project would be available. All he could say at present was. that it would be organised on the lines of the Luna Park at St. Kilda, Melbourne, which was a wonderfully successful entertainment resort and was kept thoroughly up-to-date. All the capital required to establish the park had been offered to the promoters by Dunedin people, Mr. Halliday said, but the syndicate preferred to float the company in Auckland where the park was t<i lie established. Auckland was considered to be the only suitable location for such a resort, the success of which depended largely upon a suitable climate and a large population.
