A FAREWELL LUNCHEON.

PRESIDENT OF ALLIANCE. A farewell luncheon was tendered yesterday (o Mr. Charles Todd, of Dunedin, president of the New Zealand Alliance, on the eve. of his departure for a trip to Kngland and America. The Hon. George Fowlds presided, and among those present were Archbishop Avcrill and Bishop Paddock", of Oregon, United States.

Mr. fowlds referred to the great work done for prohibition by Mr. Todd, and spoke of him as one, of the driving forces of the. Dunedin Exhibition.

Bishop Paddock gave an illuminating speech on the. conditions in America under prohibition, staling there had been an allround improvement throughout the country.

Mr. C. Kdmond, general secretary of the Alliance, also gave a short speech, in which he, wished Mr. Todd an enjoyable

Mr. Todd tlemkcd the gathering for I heir good wishes, and stated he would continue, to work hard for the cause of prohibition.
