RICH MAN DISGUSTED.
APATHETIC SCHOOLBOYS. £3OO OFFER DESPISED. LONDON. April '2O. A wealthy benefactor, who is endeavouring to interest public, school-boys in the advantages of migration to Australia, recently sulfored an astounding disappointment. According to the Evening News, he offered £3OO to Dulwich College, a wellknown public school, near London, for the purpose of competitively selecting a scholar to visit, Australia to sr>e farmwork, after which ho would give tho scholars at Dulwich College his opinions of Australia. He anounced that L 1.50 would be spent on the visit, and the re mainder woukl be given to the scholar if, later, ho migrated to Australia. Although there aro 700 boys at Dulwich,. the majority of whom will some day he seeking professions, only one volunteered for tho Australian trip, and as a result, the benefactor disgustedly abandoned Dulwich. and repeate/1 his ofter to a smaller school where there were seven volunteers.
