OBITUARY.

I DR. PATRICK DELANY. A. and N.Z. SYDNEY. May 8. The death has occurred of Dr. Patrick Delany. Roman Catholic Archbishop of Hobart, at the age of 73. The ' late -Archbishop Delany was borri near Ballinamore, County Galwav. Ireland, in 1853. lie was educated at St. Ignatius College, real philosophy and theology at All Ifallows and graduated Bachelor of Divinity at the Catholic University in Paris. He was ordained a priest in 1879 and J became ( a professor at All Hallows, Dublin. Subsequently he became secretary to Bishop Moore at Ballavat. in Victoria. He was consecrated Bishop of Laranda in 1893. Ho succeeded to the See , nf Hobart oh January 1, 1908, and upon the death of Dr. Murphy, who was the nrst Archbishop of Hobart, he was promoted to that high office. Dr. Delany, who had written much on religious and tconomicorf/ocial subjects in various publications, was held in high esteem throughI jut Australia. ■ I '
