DELAYS IN CENSUS.
MANY CORRECTIONS NEEDED. THE WORK IN AUCKLAND. Many of the census errors made by the Auckland public have not. been cleared up. -As a result of the check now .in progress at the Auckland central office, numbers of papers are being sent back to the sub-enumerators, whose duty will be to see that the householders correct them. Owing to this trouble, the population figures for the Auckland urban area will not be ready for some time. Special arrangements have been made for enumerating Indians and Chinese, and this far from easy task- is not yet complete. Up to the present, the only census returns have come from small towns—the largest to date is Westport. In such places the officials have been able to give more individual attention to their task, having fewer papers to handle and a comparatively stationary population to deal with. They have thus made more rapid progress than their harried comrades in the cities. ADDITIONAL RETURNS. TE AWAMITTU BOROUGH. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON. Thursday.
