Great preparations are being made to maintain the food supplies of the nation. Hyde Park has been converted into a veritable factory of industry. Long lines of motor-lorries are pouring into the ps.rk. Each is held up at the gates, where the driver's authority to enter is examined by the police. Attached to each Lorry are large notices bearing simple words such as, " Food only " and "Milk supplies only." Large crowds have gathered in the vicinity of the park to watch the army of busy workers. The Government expects to muster 200,000 motors capable of making very long journeys. Workmen are ruthlessly digging up the lawns in v the park and erecting huts for housing the workers. They are assembling vast masses of material. An official broadcast message states that the London milk transport service is working in accordance with the scheme. Long-distance fish and milk trains are arriving in accordance with schedule. NATAL MOVEMENTS. DESTROYERS AT DOCKSWARSHIPS CONVEY FOOD. (Received 11.55 p.m.) A. and N.Z.-Reuter. LONDON, May 4. Torpedo destroyers have been stationed at all the principal docks on the Thames. It is understood that naval ratings will be available to discharge vessels if desired. The warships Barham and Ramilles are landing food supplies at Liverpool.
