OVERCROWDED SCHOOL.
ROLL AT NEWTON CENTRAL. REORGANISATION NEEDED. The overcrowding of the Newton Centre] School, concerning which complaints have been made recently, was discussed yesterday by the Auckland Education Board. The senior inspector and the advisory inspector reported that, there was more than ten square feet of floor space per child in the school. The rooms were wellventilated and were of the latest design. In sonic of the rooms the space was not Uiuc used to tb" hest advantage, 'the onlv real overcrowding was in standard two. The inspectors, advised reorganisation of the various classes so as to make better use of the available space, and recommended that about 20 children fiom standard two should be taught in a separate room. A report was also submitted showing that some of the children could have been absorbed by schools. The chairman. Mr. A. Burns, remarked that plans were at present being prepared for additions to the school, and later it Was intended to combine Newton East and Central in one big school.
