OUTLOOK FOR AUSTRALIANS. VITAL STATISTICS REVIEWED. A. and N.Z. SYDNEY, April 20. The Daily Guardian deduces from tho figures recently issed by the Commonwealth statistician that the Australian citizen of to-day has gained 12 years of life compared with " the whiskered gentleman of 1890, and his shingled better-half, and years over the latter's ancestress in bustles." The Australian born citizen to-day can expect to live 59.1 years, says the paper, anrl 19 out of every 100 will reach their 80th birthday, compared with 10 per cent. 30 years ago. Among tho multitude of factors which contribute to this greater longevity high places aro given by the writer to.improved surgery r.nd dentistry, sanitation, better living, and working conditions, athletics and better health and education.
