CONFUSED-BY BANK NOTES.

SIMILARITY IN COLOURS.

Confusion has frequently been caused through tho similarity in size and colour of currency banknotes of various denominations, as pointed out iu Christchurch tho other day, and there has been a feeling prevalent for some time that greater discrepancy in the distinguishing marks should be provided. This recently provoked action on tho part of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce, and as a result it was suggested on Wednesday evening that if the colour of tho notes was made perfectly distinguishable tho uniform size could not bo objected to. Mr. J. S. Simpson suggested that in order to socuro a general opinion, tho matter* should bo referred to the associated chambers. This course was adopted.
