CLOTHING FOR MEN.
FASHIONS TO BE BRIGHTER. A. nncl N.Z. LONDON, April 14. London tailors announced at a luncheon at the Savoy Hotel that "brighter clothes for men" would bo their future slogan. The cream of the literary and theatrical world were present, and they expressed approval of this decision. The chairman said the time had arrived to depart from tho drabness of the 19th century, and to follow the lines of tho bright, hygienic clothing worn by women, of which doctors were highly appreciative. Britain could only conquer the world by originality, progressiveness and imaginativeness. It was time tailors ceased to be automatons, turning out eternal blues and blacks. There was a startling difference between the clothes of men and those of women. It took two sheep to clothe a man, but two energetic silkworms could clothe a woman.
The evening Standard comments that as long as it is necessary for man to have a safe pocket, tailors will have difficulty in fitting him out on the scanty lines of modern woman's dress,
