AUCKLAND STOCK EXCHANGE. There was average business on the Auckland sharemarkct yesterday. In Government securities there was demand for practically all classes, but , as on the previous day, sellers quoted in Inscribed Stock, 1939, only. No business resulted. In commercial debentures New Zealand Breweries had two sales at 26s Id, more being sought at 265, sellers 26s 3d. In banks a sale of Australasias took place at £l4, a decline of 7s 6d on the price a month ago, the market closing at £l4 2s 6d. For New Zealands buyers offered 60s 3d, the sale price of the previous day, sellers quoting 60s 6d, and no business resulted. In insurance New Zealands had sale at 39s 6d, more being wanted at 39s 3d, sellers 39s 9d. There was demand for South British at 575, but as on Wednesday no holders were revealed. In finance Goldsborough, Morts were done at 48s 3d, more being sought at that price, sellers 48s 6d. In coal Pukemiros changed hands at 47s 6d. In miscellaneous buyers of Colonial Sugars increased their offer of the previous day by 10s to £52 10s, but again without response. Two sales of Sanford, Ltd., resulted at 20.s 3d. A sale of Wilsbns Coment was effected at 365, t.he market closing at that price, buyers 35s 6d. Taranaki Oils closed at lis 6d and 12s against 12s 3d and 12a 6d at the last call on Wednesday. In mining there were

two sales of Kawaraus at 6s 4d, with more on offer at, that figure, buyers closing at 6s 2d. New Waiotahis (con.) changed hands at lid (three sales) and 10d, the market closing at tho last-named rate, buyers 9J,d. Waihis were done at 20s, more being wanted at 19s 9d, sellers 20s 3d.
